Ohio Curriculum is National Model
Ohio College Tech Prep
has earned national distinction for collaborative curriculum development
and delivery.
Essential elements
- All College Tech
Prep programs originate from a
Technical Competency Profile (TCP).
A TCP is a listing of the competencies
that form the core of a College Tech Prep sequence of study.
Outlining skills and knowledge required for the specific competency, the
TCP is developed cooperatively by representatives from business,
industry and education.
- A TCP represents
statewide criteria. Consortia are responsible for verifying TCP’s and
facilitating partnerships for
pathway development.
Pathways address local needs and define
a seamless course of study from high school through college degree.
-
Articulation
formalizes the transition from high school to related college programs.
Articulation agreements detail a commitment to recognize Tech Prep
achievement in high school by awarding college credit, advanced
placement or additional benefits. Articulation agreements also list
entrance and exit requirements, transferable coursework and advanced
skills included in the curriculum.
-
Curriculum development and delivery is supported by
Ohio Tech Prep Curriculum
Services,
in coordination with the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Board
of Regents.

“I
am interested in architecture and design. In my College Tech Prep class,
I learn more and it’s hands-on. I have time to really concentrate on
projects.”
