Starting a
College Tech Prep Program
If you are interested in
implementing one or more College Tech Prep programs, your College Tech
Prep Consortium can help you:
- Complete a College
Tech Prep program application
- Implement a
pathway
- Create necessary
articulation agreements
- Obtain essential
training
You must document and demonstrate
- Ability to deliver
the specific target pathway
- Availability of
appropriately certified teachers
- Capability to
deliver required academic instruction
- Availability of
appropriate technology and infrastructure to support the pathway
Tips to consider before you begin
-
Review the
College Tech Prep Pathways
to see if your discipline or a related one is a College Tech Prep
pathway. Read through the competencies. Remember this is a
document for both secondary and postsecondary curriculum (grades
11-14). If your program is not on the current list, check the
calendar
to see if your program is in the process of development.
-
Review
available local resources.
-
Check your
College Tech Prep consortium
affiliation. Your consortium’s website will indicate
local programs, available services and resources to help start new
programs
-
Contact your College
Tech Prep Consortium Director to discuss your interest.
-
Contact your
building administrator to discuss
your plans.
-
Articulate your
solid ideas based on your research.
